Many of the insurance agents act in a professional manner. However, there may also be those that act unethically. In general, it is the duty of the insurance agents to make the best financial and insurance related decisions on behalf of their clients. As a client, you need to have some information about them like whether they operate legally i.e. whether they have passed the requisite exams and whether they have the necessary licenses from the state’s insurance commission.
One of the things that you can do is try to gain information about the salary of the agent, the commission that he receives on selling various policies etc. You should try to gain an understanding of impact of the commission on the policy that he is trying to sell you. If you find that they are answering the questions truthfully, then you can be assured that the agent is sincere. You should remember that, insurance agents always get some amount of money for selling the policies.
If you face some problems with your insurance agent, then you can always contact your state’s insurance commission and report your problems. If the commission suspects some illegal activity then, it will take the necessary steps to redress it.
